We believe that every person can achieve their unique version of academic success, and that gaps in academic outcomes across differences such as ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, and zip code occur because of gaps in children’s opportunities to learn. Equity Learning Bridge, LLC. bridges the gap between performance and potential by connecting communities, families, and schools through products and services that advance education equity and promote learning through laughter.

meet our founder

Dr. DeShawn Chapman

Educators wear many hats. Dr. DeShawn has learned from students, families, and communities while serving as a social science teacher and department chair, exceptional student education facilitator, athletic coach, adjunct professor, and educational programmer. In those roles, she worked to increase equitable education outcomes for youth in historically disenfranchised communities and youth in foster care.

As a 20-year educator and leader at secondary and postsecondary institutions, Dr. DeShawn is a community engagement strategist and educational leader who, through a relational approach, demonstrates the ability to work with organizational leaders across multiple sectors to build strategic partnerships and manage collective impact initiatives that positively impact society.

Dr. Chapman serves on numerous boards in Central Florida and Georgia, and has most recently been appointed to the Steering Committee of the Education Knowledge Broker Network, an organization that cultivates a professional learning community in education that is committed to democratizing the production and use of evidence in service of an equitable and just education system.

Jania Fuller

Jania is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a strong commitment to advancing racial equity and empowering vulnerable populations. She aspires to educate, advocate and build more equitable and liberated spaces to promote academic and social excellence.

Latrice Smith

Latrice is a seasoned educator with over 15 years of experience teaching students from K to 8th grade. Her philosophy and firm belief that “ALL students can learn” has fueled a love and passion that has helped numerous students tap into their fullest potential.

Kamilah McCallum-Turnquest

Kamilah is committed to doing what it takes to help all students succeed. As a District Administrator (ELA Program Specialist) she develops innovative curriculum and instruction that fosters an environment where school-based administrators, coaches, teachers and students engage in rigorous, meaningful learning experiences.
